Dalai Lamas ensuing visit to city hailed

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 20 - The Patriotic Peoples Front Assam (PPFA) has welcomed Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lamas ensuing visit to the city and expressed hope that his visit would strengthen the pre-historical bond between the people of Tibet and North East India.

The Nobel peace laureate is scheduled to attend the concluding function of The Assam Tribunes platinum jubilee and Dainik Asams golden jubilee celebration on April 1, before proceeding to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. The Dalai Lama will also attend a number of religious functions in Arunachal Pradesh during his visit.

Chinas Communist regime in Beijing has been opposing his visit to Tawang claiming that it is a disputed area. However, the Union government in New Delhi has repeatedly asserted that Arunachal is an integral part of India and as an honoured guest of the country, the Tibetan spiritual leaders visit to Tawang should not irritate anyone, said a statement issued by Rupam Barua and Nava Thakuria on behalf of the PPFA, adding that the Beijing administration should honour the Tibetan dream without further delay.
