Dainik Asam quiz held

GUWAHATI, Feb 8 � The State-level inter-educational institution prize money quiz competition organised as part of the golden jubilee celebration of Dainik Asam, was held at the District Library auditorium here today.

Akshay Seal from Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Barsajai and Sudarshan Goswami from Srimanta Sankar Academy, Dispur emerged champions after ten rounds.

The second position went to the team of Biswajit Sarma and Bijit Das from Nalbari College. Ashique Ee Mastafa from Gauhati Medical College and Himangshu Kalita from Cotton College came third.

The winning team was presented with Rs 10,000 and mementos, certificates and books, while the second and third ranked teams were given Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively along with books, certificates and mementos.

Chief Justice (acting ) of the Gauhati High Court K Sridhar Rao was present at the prize distribution ceremony along with other dignitaries.

Earlier, Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, Editor, Dainik Asam formally inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of RG Baruah, founder of the Assam Tribune Group of Newspapers.

Navakanta Baishya and Deepankar Kaushik conducted the quiz, while noted quiz master Prof Dilip Kumar Barua was present as the guest quiz master.

Altogether 98 teams from across the State participated in the quiz, out of which six qualified for the main rounds.

At the same function, the winners of the Dainik Asam golden jubilee written quiz contest - Anjana Datta, Himadri Das Bora and Chinmoy Pathak were awarded cash of Rs 1,500, Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 respectively along with books.
