Dainik Asam golden jubilee celebration

DIBRUGARH, Nov 8 - As part of the golden jubilee year celebration of the vernacular daily Dainik Asam of the Assam Tribune Group of Publications, a general meeting of the readers, senior citizens, newspaper agents and the elite was organised at Natya Mandir, Amolapatty here.

The meeting was presided over by educationist Bhimkanta Konwar. Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, attended the function as the chief guest. Dr Ratan Kotoky, professor of Assam Medical College and senior advocate Jogendra Nath Bora were the distinguished guests at the meeting. Lohit Deka, eminent journalist and programme executive of the All India Radio station here, was the appointed speaker for the occasion. Dugdharam Kalita, general secretary of the Assam Tribune Employees Union, also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, the meeting began with a mangalacharan recited by Aditi Barua, while Arifa Begum performed a borgeet. The chief guest, Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain then lit a traditional lamp and paid floral tribute to Singhapurush Radha Govinda Baruah, the founder of the Assam Tribune Group of Publications. Earlier, Bhudev Phukan, president of the organising committee, delivered the welcome address.

Noted writer Dr Nagen Saikia also attended the meeting among others. Munin Bayan, Executive Editor of Dainik Asam and BD Goswami, Development Officer (Circulation) of the newspaper and local employees of the Assam Tribune Group attended the programme. Leading newspaper agents of the district were also felicitated during the occasion.
