By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 17 - Writer Prasanta Kumar Das has been chosen for the Dainik Asam Sahitya Bota-2015 for his short story collection Galpabor. The award will be formally presented to Das in September.

Galpabor was chosen from over a hundred books published during 2013 and 2014 by a two-tier jury comprising eminent litterateurs. The jury was of the view that the short stories in the volume were truly representative of contemporary social life of Assam, and written in a poignant style matching the content.

Das, who is an assistant editor in the Assamese weekly Sadin, has several short story volumes, i.e., Eta Sadiyar Anto Prithivir (1997), Othello April 99 (1999, jointly authored with Tapan Das), Kahini Etar Kahini (2004), and The Downtown (2006).

He has also edited a volume of contemporary short stories (translated) of the world titled Biswa Sahityar Sampratik Galpa besides editing (jointly) another yearly collection of Assamese short stories.
