GUWAHATI, Jan 29: As a mass awareness drive seeking citizens’ active participation in fuel conservation for health and environmental protection and to help in reducing India’s dependence on import of crude oil, Oil India Limited is observing Saksham 2021 under the guidance of the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), a registered society set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.

The theme for Saksham 2021 is “Green and Clean Energy”. As part of this awareness drive Saksham Cyclothon will be organised by PCRA in 300 cities across India on January 31. In Assam, Oil India Limited (Pipeline Headquarters, Narengi) has been entrusted with organising Saksham Cyclothon.

OIL had also organised Saksham Cyclothon in Guwahati in 2019 and 2020 which saw huge participation, making it one of the biggest cycling events of the region.
Saksham Cyclothon will also be held in Jorhat, Tezpur and Nagaon along with Guwahati. To organise the event, OIL has teamed up with NGO Pedal for a Change and local cycling groups to attract the regular cyclists. Interested people can register for the event by visiting the Facebook page or website of Pedal for a Change, the organisers said.
