SILCHAR, April 29 - A cyclonic storm on Sunday evening caused widespread damage across Udharbond constituency and other adjacent areas.
According to sources, the roofs of many houses were blown away. Movement along the Silchar airport road was affected due to uprooting of a large tree near the Kanchakanti temple. Power supply too was disrupted due to the cyclonic storm.
Vile act: In the meantime, sensation prevailed in Karimganj after miscreants garlanded the Jesus Cross of the Presbyterian church of the town with shoes.
According to police, church officials witnessed the incident on Sunday evening.
�We are probing the incident. No arrests have been made so far,� OC of Karimganj PS Utpal Bora informed.
