MANGALDAI, April 19 � Assam Police jawan Prashanta Deka of Nagaon won the Chikimai Deka Memorial All Assam Cycling Competition held here today. The competition was organised by the Sadou Mangaldai Rongali Bihu Sanmilanee on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee celebration.
Prashanta covered the total distance of 37 km from Baihata Chariali to Mangaldai Gandhi Maidan Bihutoli clocking 1 hour 1 minute and 22 seconds.
He received a cash award of Rs 10,000 while the second position went to Kukil Das of Guwahati who covered the distance in 1:07:21. Tendan Michel Teron, also of Guwahati won the third position. Both Das and Teron shared a total amount of Rs 8000 as prize money along with trophies. A Total number of 52 cyclists took part in the competition which was flagged off by Commanding Officer, Army Camp, Chapai, Mangaldai.
