AIZAWL, Sept 21 - Anti-smuggling unit of Customs Division, Aizawl seized 1.17 kg of gold bars at Seling, about 40 km east of Aizawl, on Wednesday and arrested a Myanmarese national.
The seized gold bars and the accused identified as Lalbiakhlua, 23, a resident of Tahan, Saingang division, Myanmar, were produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate here today. The gold bars are worth Rs 34.63 lakh in the international market.
The gold bars were seized from the man as he was travelling in a vehicle coming from Champhai border town, at Customs Division check gate around 11 am on September 20.
