By Staff correspondent

SHILLONG, Dec 21 - Curfew was relaxed today up to 11 pm in the curfew-bound areas under two police stations in the Meghalaya capital, the East Khasi Hills district magistrate stated.

This enabled shops to remain open for a longer duration of time for the ensuing festivities. The district administration made the announcement through the public address system this evening in areas under the Lumdiengjri and Sadar Police stations.

Curfew was reimposed from 11 pm today, which will remain in effect till 4 am on Sunday.

A PTI report from Shillong adds: No untoward incident was reported in the past 24 hours, East Khasi Hills district magistrate MW Nongbri said. Meanwhile, the Chief minister was seen shopping for Christmas at the Police Bazaar area of Shillong on Friday night. He visited a State-run hospital this morning to meet people who were injured during protests against the new citizenship law.
