Curfew along Assam, Nagaland border

DIPHU, Jan 5 � Curfew has been clamped by the district administration along the Assam-Nagaland border areas since 5 pm this evening, even as five people were arrested during a joint search operation conducted by the Bokajan police and security forces at Karagaon and Balijan areas under the Khatkhati PS last night.

One of the arrested was subsequently released after interrogation. A case has been registered against the other four at the Khatkhati Police Station.

According to Shankar Raimedhi, SDPO, Bokajan, the four arrested are suspected to be involved in yesterday�s firing incident at the Kara Rongpi village in which two persons, Desoi Rongpi and Rajen Rongpi, received bullet injuries.

The arrested have been identified as Zhutovi Sema, Yeheka Chophy, Yehakato Chophy and Zakato Chophy Aomi of Zuneboto, Nagaland. They are believed to be involved in the killing of nine persons in Chumukedima, Nagaland, whose bodies were found yesterday. Four of the victims have been identified as Sunil Rongpi, Bilison Rongpi, Rajib Ingti and Mogal Ingti of Dikoi Ingti village, upper Deopani. On the other hand, another body was identified as Harlongbi Ingti yesterday by the family members. Later, the four bodies were handed over to their relatives after post-mortem conducted at the Dimapur Civil Hospital today.
