CSIR-NEIST celebrates Hindi Week

JORHAT, Sept 18 - With an aim to spread awareness on Rajbhasa Hindi, Jorhat-based CSIR-NEIST observed Hindi Week from September 7 to 14 this year with various programmes.

Hindi workshop for the staff members and competitions like dictation, essay writing and quiz were held among the employees, research scholars, and project assistants during the week-long programme.

Dr D Prajapati, Chief Scientist and Chairman, Official Language Implementation Committee, CSIR-NEIST, delivered the welcome address and briefed the initiatives and activities taken up by the Institute for popularizing Hindi.

Ajay Kumar, in-charge of the CSIR-NEIST�s Rajbhasha Section, Ajay Kumar read out the message of the Union Home on the occasion.

Addressing the occasion, Air Cmde Sahni said that Sanskrit and Hindi are like assets to the country. While Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages in the world, Hindi is also gaining popularity and recognition, he opined.

Dr D Ramaiah in his remarks expressed that Hindi is a language which is understood by almost everyone and hence efforts should be made by all to learn it, adopt it and to popularize its use in the office.

Befitting the occasion, a special function was held at Dr J N Baruah auditorium on Monday. The director of CSIR-NEIST Dr D Ramaiah presided over the function wherein Air Commodore H Sahni of Air Force Hospital, Jorhat graced the occasion as chief guest.

Winners of the competitions were awarded with prizes and staff members who successfully cleared the Hindi courses like Prabodh, Praveen, Pragya, also got certificates.
