CRPF plans strategies against insurgent groups

DIBRUGARH, Nov 29 - In the wake of violence and subversive activities in the region, the CRPF has chalked out strategies for counter offensive against the active ULFA and other insurgent groups in Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The field commanders of the CRPF units have been directed to inflict exemplary firm and strict action against the insurgents and other anti-national elements.

In a two-day operational conference that concluded recently at the headquarters of the 171 Battalion of CRPF here, Ajay Kumar Yadav, IGP, CRPF (Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh), V S Sharma, DIG (Operations), CRPF, Dibrugarh range, Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh reviewed the status of security scenario and law-and-order situation from the CRPF Commandants and other officers including team Commanders of COBRA of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar districts in Assam and Namsai, Changlang and Itanagar districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

During the review meeting, the CRPF units were directed to be watchful of the law-and-order situation and accordingly were asked to take pro-active preventive actions so that situation did not go out of control.
