CRPF organise school soccer tourney

BONGAIGAON, June 9 � Subhaijhar HS School, Nehru Bazar of Chirang district won the title in the inter-district football tournament for higher secondary school organised by 156 Bn CRPF, stated a release.

In the final played at Birjhara HS School here on June 6, the Chirang boys defeated Abhayswari HS School 2-0.

Altogether 52 schools of Bongaigaon and Chirang districts took part in the meet which was played in different grounds. The tournament was organised as a part of civic action programme and to promote sporting talents of the districts.

The tournament was inaugurated by Sh I Lokendra Singh, Commandant of 156 Bn CRPF on May 9 at 156 Bn HQ football ground.

The winning team was given Rs 15,000 along with trophy while the runners-up team got Rs 10,000. Phungka Brahma of Subhaijhar HS School was adjudged best player of the tournament while Pradip Ray of Abhayswari received the best goalkeeper trophy.

In the closing ceremony, Bongaigaon SP Nitul Gogoi was present as chief guest.
