CRPF jawan guns down 3 colleagues

IMPHAL, Oct 11 � An irate Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable shot dead three of his colleagues and later shot himself dead with his service AK 47 rifle following a quarrel among themselves in Manipur today.

The incident took place around 6.30 am at the Food Corporation of India godown at Sangaiprou under Lamphel Police station in Imphal West district, about 3 km west of here.

�We have registered a case and investigation is on to establish how the incident happened�, Officer in Charge of Lamphel Police station said when contacted over telephone.

Police sources believe

that the CRPF constable Fomin Mohan, a resident of Kerala might have gone berserk killing three of his

colleagues with his service rifle following some quarrel among them over duty

period.

Later, he committed suicide by shooting himself inside their barrack. A company of CRPF jawans were deployed to guard the FCI godown.

The three CRPF personnel died on the spot while the attacker succumbed to injuries on way to hospital, police sources added.

The bodies of the deceased CRPF personnel � Fomin Mohan, Pradeep RV Nair and S Rajana, all from Kerala and P Ishwara Rao of Andhra Pradesh will be flown to their respective States by tomorrow�s flight.

Meanwhile, a senior CRPF officer said that a high level inquiry will be instituted to find out the facts leading to the incident.
