Cricketers felicitated in Silchar

SILCHAR, May 23 - In its third annual celebration, the�Silchar�Veteran Cricketers� Club felicitated as many as 32 personalities including four young cricketers in the sport for their commendable performances.�

At a function held here recently, Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul alongside Lakhipur legislator Rajdip Goala, DSA Silchar president Babul Hore, secretary Subimal Dhar, secretary of Karimganj DSA Amalesh Choudhury and adviser Badal Dey gave away mementos to the former cricketers, State panel umpires, young cricketers and journalists who have covered the game from this region.

Later, talking to�The Assam Tribune, Dilip Kumar Paul said,��The club has done commendable job in the past three years since its inception in encouraging young talents towards the game. We have potential for hosting international matches here and efforts are being made towards developing the necessary infrastructure.���

Expressing happiness, Bijendra Prasad Singh, president of the Club informed that since 2017, they have been able to accord honour to 116 personalities related with cricket and they wish to carry on the momentum towards the betterment of the game.
