Crackdown on flesh trade racket soon

GUWAHATI, March 18 � Assam Police has laid hands on some vital inputs about the functioning of a flesh trade racket and is likely to crack down on it in the next few days.

Police claimed that it has zeroed in on the names of around ten members of the racket and most of them are based in Guwahati.

Interestingly, some of the city-based hotels and lodges are said to be facilitating the thriving flesh trade business.

�Our team is keeping a close eye on the activities of these racketeers including the management staff of some the hotels, of which some are operating flouting all the norms set by the administration,� an Assam Police official stated.

The racket, according to police sources, operates with the help of agents based in every nook and corner of the State.

Sources further stated that the girls lured in the name of high-pay are mostly trafficked to places like Kolkota, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

�Unlike what used to happen few years back, sex racket are now being run mostly by women,� the sources added.

It needs mention here that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Assam a few days back, had arrested a woman from Delhi on charges of running a sex racket.
