By CORRESPONDENT

MORIGAON, Aug 24 - Vishwaharan Pati, Chief Post Master General (CPMG), Assam Circle visited the Morigaon Head Post Office on August 18 and verified the service situation of the office located at Morigaon district headquarter. The CPMG along with the top officials of the Postal Department took stock of the infrastructure and other facilities to open the Indian Post Payment Bank Branch at Morigaon Head Post Office. This correspondent on behalf of the people of Morigaon met the CPMG and apprised him about the pathetic service of Morigaon Head Post Office for which the people were suffering a lot.

The CPMG was apprised about the staff shortage in Morigaon Post office. As against eight counter assistants, only three counter clerks run the Morigaon Head Post Office. The most sordid part of this Post office is that every day, the depositors of National Savings Schemes face hardship as the technical capacity of the electronic counter is a mere 256 MBPS whereas the demand is 512 MBPS. The counters of this post office remain idle on most of the working days as the BSNL link remains inoperative. The CPMG was apprised of all the dismal state of services at the Morigaon Head Post Office where thousands of people of the district are deprived of better postal services.

The chief of the Assam Postal department assured this correspondent that the situation will be corrected and promised a good environment at the Morigaon Head Post Office as soon as possible.
