CPI observes 90th foundation day

MORIGAON, Dec 26 - The 90th foundation day of the Communist Party of India (CPI) was observed here at Morigaon on Friday with a daylong programme under the auspices of the Assam State unit of the CPI.

Altogether, 200 delegates from different parts of the State took part in this foundation day programme which began with flag hoisting by Someswar Bora, senior leader, CPI, Morigaon district unit.

The open session was inaugurated by Durlabh Mahanta, senior advocate. In his inaugural speech, Mahanta dwelt at length about the present political scene of the country and the CPI�s stand on it.

Addressing the gathering, Sarat Das, a leader of the All India Bank Employees� Federation criticized the economic policy of the Narendra Modi Government and appealed to the people to fight against corporatisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Munin Mahanta, ex -MLA, Morigaon said that the CPI will go for strengthening of the Left democratic forces in the State and in the forthcoming Assam Assembly elections, the party will join hands with secular democratic forces.
