COVID-19 cases decline in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Dec 24 - The number of COVID-19 cases is on a decline in Mizoram with just 34 fresh infections detected in the last three days.

From 1,175 samples tested during the last 24 hours, 15 new cases have been detected, putting the positivity rate at 1.28 percent.

Eight new infections were detected from 1,086 samples tested on December 22 with the positivity rate at 0.73 percent.

Similarly on December 21, nine new cases were detected from 1,176 samples with the positivity rate at 1.78 percent.

On December 20, two new cases were detected from 183 samples tested, which put the positivity rate at 1.09 percent.

Mizoram now has 140 active cases. Mizoram recorded its eight COVID-19 fatality when a policeman, who had returned from poll duty in Bihar, died on November 22. He was discharged from hospital after he tested negative. But shortly after he was discharged, he passed away. Medical investigation later confirmed that he died of the coronavirus.
