Course on specific learning disabilities and remedial education

GUWAHATI, Aug 22 - The Department of Psychology and Counselling, Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) has started a 12-day certificate course on �Specific Learning Disabilities and Remedial Education� in its Tapesia campus.

The course that began on August 20, is designed to help teachers, parents, mental health professionals and graduate students gain in-depth knowledge about specific learning disabilities. It will also have hands-on training to identify and deal with learning disabilities.

During the course some of the topics which will be covered are, introduction to children with specific needs, introduction to specific learning disability, reading disorder, intervention to reading disorder, written language disorder and intervention to written language disorder, mathematic disorder and its intervention, curriculum-based assessment and Bloom�s Taxonomy, neuro-developmental disorder and intellectual disability, communication disorder, autism spectrum attention deficit hyperactive disorder and sensory integration disorder, a statement issued here by the university said.

The resource person for the course is Rumana Fatehi, president of the Institute for Exceptional Children along with other noted resource persons from Guwahati.
