GUWAHATI, Jan 7 � The Army today announced an internal inquiry into a road accident involving a lieutenant colonel and some Assam Police constables at Jalukbari here last evening, which had resulted in the Army officer being assaulted by the constables.
Sources said that the Army has decided to hold its own inquiry into the incident and it will also keep track of the progress of the Assam Police probe.
An FIR has already been lodged by the Army officer at the Jalukbari Police Station.
The personal vehicle of Lt Col Rohit Behl, in which he was travelling with his wife and children last evening, had met with an accident with a passenger bus at Jalukbari last evening.
Some Assam Police constables who were travelling in the bus physically assaulted the Army officer even after the latter identified himself, sources said.
