Agartala, July 27 (IANS): A Tripura police officer was suspended and another transferred for the baton attack on journalists and some Congress activists, an official said on Tuesday.

A dozen journalists and photo-journalists were injured here July 10 while covering a Congress protest against the "discriminatory policies" towards medical students in the State.

Police inspector Jahangir Hussain, officer-in-charge of College Tilla police station, was suspended while Narayan Saha, officer-in-charge of East Agartala police station, has been transferred, an official said. The decision followed the directive of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar after protests by the media persons in the Left-ruled State.
