SILCHAR, Sept 4 - A police constable was arrested after he was caught while trying to steal money by cutting an ATM machine here using a gas cutter on Tuesday night.
The incident happened at the SBI ATM at Vivekanada Road. According to police, Ramani Sinha (44), a resident of Lala in Hailakandi, is a constable at the Police Reserve unit here.
Police said that the traffic riding squad found the shutter of the ATM suspiciously closed and a bike parked outside. When the squad went inside, they found Ramani and nabbed him on the spot.
