LUMDING, Dec 30 - A special convention of NF Railway Mazdoor Union was held at Lumding recently.

The programme started with the flag hoisting at 10 am by Ramani Barman, president of the Mazdoor Unoin, NF Railway. This was followed by a rally passing through the main roads of the railway township.

The open session was started at 4.30 pm. The meeting was conducted by Subhas Das president of Lumding Division. The meeting was presided over by the president of NF Railway Mazdoor Union.

Ashish Biswas, joint general secretary of the Union in his inaugural speech, described the purpose of the special convention and laid stress on the issues demanded by the Railway employees and criticised the Railway authority and Central Government.

Lumding MLA Swapan Kar also spoke on the occasion as a guest in the meeting. He supported the demands of the employees and criticised the present policy of the Centre.

Rakhal Das Gupta, general secretary of NF Railway Mazdoor Union and Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of AIRF, dwelt at length on the anomalies and irregularities in the report of the Pay Commission which was rejected by the All India Railway Federation and National Joint Council of Action.
