Contributions of Robin Chowdhury recalled

DOOMDOOMA, Nov 24 � Rich tributes were paid to eminent Assamese writer, journalist, academician, actor, social-worker, literary pensioner, former principal of Doomdooma College and philanthrophist Robin Chowdhury on his second death anniversary at Doomdooma on Sunday. Robin Chowdhury had left for his heavenly abode on November 23, 2012 on his 77th birthday.

On Sunday, a programme was organised at the Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha (DSSS) bhawan to pay tributes to Chowdhury. A former headmaster of Kakopothar Girls� High School, Prafulla Borkakoty garlanded the portrait of Robin Chowdhury while veteran citizen Kandarpa Deka lit the earthen lamp to start the programme. Tributes were paid to late Chowdhury by various individuals, organisations and educational institutions of Doomdooma area in the programme.

Later a memorial meeting was held which was conducted by DSSS president Arjun Baruah. Addressing the gathering, former vice-chairman of Doomdooma Town Committee, Prabhat Deka, headmistress of Doomdooma Girls' High School Pratibha Sharma and journalist Abhijit Khataniar threw light on various aspects of the life and works of Robin Chowdhury. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks offered by DSSS secretary Nityananda Das.
