GUWAHATI, May 8 � The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has slapped a fine on A M Construction for negligence of work related to cleaning and desilting of a drain on the Gopinath Bordoloi Road.
The contractor responsible for the work, according to the Corporation, had left the garbage besides the road after cleaning the drain, amounting to negligence of his work. The release further stated that the authority is planning to black-list the contractor for the negligence in work.
�If the contractors after cleansing the drain do not remove the garbage besides the drain within a specific time, it will amount to negligence and the concerned contractor will be fined and could even be blacklisted,� an official press release stated.
The Corporation under �Go Ahead� scheme has taken up the work of cleansing and desilting of drains in Guwahati to fight with the problem of artificial flood.
�At present, the scheme is in progress and the Corporation is committed to effective implementation of it,� the release stated.
The District administration, it needs mention, has asked the GMC and the Water Resources department to take up the work of cleansing and desiltation of all the six divisions of Guwahati.
Meanwhile, with an aim to bring in transparency and redress the problems of the common man, GMC Commissioner Puru Gupta has put in place a confidential box in the Corporation�s premises.
People can write to the Commissioner directly about their issues.
Moreover, the Commissioner has also assured that necessary steps would be taken against marriage halls without proper provision of parking and other specified guidelines.
�A list of such marriage halls is being prepared and very soon, steps will be taken,� the release added.
