GUWAHATI, March 28 - The All Assam Construction Workers� Union today staged a sit-in demonstration on the bank of the Dighalipukhuri here to press for fulfilment of various demands.
The sit-in was held as part of the nationwide agitation of construction sector workers.
The agitating workers later handed over a letter addressed to the Union Labour Minister through the Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner�s office.
Among their demands are equal treatment for construction sector workers in all states, provision of monthly pension of Rs 3,000, compensation for families of workers who die during work-related accidents and proper implementation of the Migrant Workers Act.
