Conservation of mothertongues to get focus

DERGAON, Jan 14 � �The conservation and development of all mothertongues will be focused by Assam Sahitya Sabha. And for this, February 1 will be observed as �Mother-Tongue Day� at the 71st Dergaon session of the Sabha.�

This was stated by Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi at a press meet held at Chandrakanta Handique Bhavan recently.

In the press meet, the invitation letter of Dergaon session of the Sabha was officially released by the president Rongbong Terang. Nilopadma Phukan the president of the reception committee of Dergaon session, highlighted the latest development of activities of the reception committee. Atul Goswami, the executive president of the reception committee elaborated on the other arrangements for the delegates.

Replying the question of the media persons, Sanjoy Kr Hazarika, the secretary of book publication committee and the secretary of Dergaon Sahitya Sabha disclosed that a total of 14 books will be published by the RC while another 60 books will be published in the session. The press meet was also attended by Binanda Baruah, Bhava Goswami, Dr Kutubuddin Ahmed, Parasu Tamuly and Pabitra Barua. On the other hand, Dr Parag Thakur clarified that there is no conflict between the central committee and the reception committee as published by a section of press.

Addressing a press meet at Chandranath Khound Bhavan on January 10, the general secretary of the RC also denied the fact that no office bearers of RC opposed the general secretary of Asam Sahitya Sabha. The press meet was also attended by Nilopadma Phukan, Atul Goswami, Nagen Barua, Sanjoy Kr Hazarika and Bichitra Bhusan Kalita.
