TURA, July 30 - The race for the South Tura seat is expected to get underway tomorrow with the filing of nomination by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma here tomorrow.

The CM is already campaigning in the constituency, by visiting various localities in an effort to drum up support for NPP in the by-election. He is expected to face a triangular contest, with the other two being former MLA of South Tura, John Leslee K Sangma and Charlotte W Momin of Congress.

Interestingly, Congress is yet to make an official announcement of their candidate. Only former principal, Charlotte W Momin, has applied for the party ticket.

Meanwhile, John Leslee has communicated his interest in contesting and resigned from NCP.

The UDP is most likely not to contest after the party high command made its stand clear of supporting the CM. The BJP too is following suit.
