Conrad reviews State scene in Cabinet meet

SHILLONG, Dec 13 - Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is in New Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, held an emergency Cabinet meeting today to discuss the prevailing situation in the State.

With renewed unrest in the State following the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the Cabinet discussed measures to restore normalcy in the State.

The Cabinet also discussed the law-and-order situation in Assam with reports of Meghalaya students and citizens being stranded in Guwahati and Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the Government has urged those who are stranded in Shillong or other parts of the State to reach out for assistance through the helpline numbers, 7640908749, 9854028087, 0364-222855, 2227050 and 9774618462.

It has also been informed that the helicopter service between Shillong and Guwahati has been increased to three sorties daily. Passengers stranded in Kolkata can use the flight service from Kolkata to Shillong, which has resumed from today.
