Congress, Left parties disturbing peace: CM

DHUBRI, Dec 29 - Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday claimed that the members of the Congress and the Left parties are spreading rumours and are disturbing the peace and tranquillity of the society. He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundsation stone of Model Residential School here.

Taking a dig into the State-wide anti-CAA protests, the chief minister said, �if a peaceful environment prevails, then only one is motivated to work hard and lead his life beautifully.� He further said, �I wish everyone lives peacefully in the district of Dhubri. By spreading lies, rumours and factually incorrect data, Assam is being kept in a position of unrest today�.

�The Congress and the Left parties, are spearheading unrest and disturbance in the entire State�, he said adding, �the people of the district should be aware and concerned so that such parties could not spread rumours in the entire district.�

He also said that due to inability of the former governments, the district lost its glory, that it had during the British period.

Sonowal laid the foundation stone of Model Residential School under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, Ministry of Minority Affairs, at Chagolia Pt-I village under Golokganj LAC at Dhubri district.

A residential school that aimed at, �educational empowerment for the students for the minority communities, will be constructed at a cost of Rs 30.42 crore, informed Gaurav Bothra, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam for Welfare of Minorities & Development Department. He also informed that the institute after its completion, will have one academic and administrative block, four student hostels with more than 100 capacity each, 4 teachers and staff quarters, the Principal�s bungalow, guest house and dining-cum-kitchen.

It was also informed that the school will be equipped with all modern facilities and will be totally free, where there will be 33% reservation seats for day scholar girls and will have a total of 560 seats.

However, after laying the foundation stone the Chief Minister, addressed a gathering and said that his government is working hard towards bringing back the lost glory of the district.

�This school will be a milestone towards the overall development of the district,� said the Chief Minister who also said that in the coming years, they will be inaugurating more educational institutes in the district, including a women�s college. �When these institutions will produce more educated and disciplined youths, the future of the district will not only be in good hands but the overall growth of the district is assured.�

He also lauded the achievements of his government, and the BJP MLAs of the district and claimed that the BJP-led current State government had done the most work, unlike any other previous governments.
