DIBRUGARH, July 1 In an apparent bid to raise the spirit of the party workers after facing a crushing rout in the recently held Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has called upon all the leaders of district, block, mandal and booth level office bearers of the Congress not to cling on to the defeat but to work with a rejuvenated spirit.
Stating that defeat and victory were components of democracy, Chief Minister said that the party led by a great leader like Indira Gandhi also faced defeat during her period but the party bounced back to power later. We have strong roots as an organisation at the grass root level and therefore the party can grow again. If our roots are strong, no one can defeat us, because waves can destroy structures but cannot uproot the roots, he said. The Chief Minister claimed that the party miserably failed in the publicity despite carrying out various developmental works. Our rivals made good use of the media despite having done nothing. We have to improve in the publicity area and correct all our mistakes before next polls, he said.
Gogoi, who also visited the gas cracker project site at Lepetakata here, said that there was every possibility that BJP would take the credit for the BCPL, which was actually started by the Congress-led Government at the Centre. Similarly, BJP might also sing their own praise about the completion of the Bogibeel project, the construction works of which begun after Congress led government started pouring money for its completion. He also called upon the party workers to highlight the BJPs failures.
