Cong workers turn ecstatic at Rajiv Bhawan

GUWAHATI, May 13 � Jubilant members of the Congress have claimed that they were more than 100 per cent sure of their party�s win.

As soon as the large projection screen at Rajiv Bhawan here showed the Congress winning the magical number to form a government on its own strength, the crowd broke into a wild dance.

Crackers were burst, and the Congress workers danced with cutouts of their leaders including those of Tarun Gogoi and APCC president Bhubaneshwar Kalita. The skies did not betray the jubilant crowd although it looked as if a downpour could come at any moment.

It needs to be mentioned here that the woman members of Congress chose to paint their faces to celebrate the occasion and they swayed to Bihu tunes. Since early morning, the Rajiv Bhawan campus saw a steady flow of members and leaders.

The general secretary of Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress Binu Buragohain said that the woman members and youth wing of the party had an important role to play in this huge success. �We were confident of victory and I must say that the women of Assam have a significant role in this victory,� said Buragohain adding that the women of Assam extended support to the Congress government for launching various welfare schemes meant for women and the girl child.

�The welfare schemes undertaken by the Congress government for all sections of women have ensured empowerment of women in the real sense of the term in Assam,� asserted Buragohain.

On the other hand, another Congress member Tarulata Deka said that the development agenda had ensured the win of the Congress. �The people of Assam want development and the Congress has provided just that,� said Deka.

Everyone present at Rajiv Bhawan said that they were sure of Congress win. Why such high confidence � one might ask. The answer in everybody�s lips was that the party has ushered in positive developments in the State.
