Cong stages protest at Morigaon

MORIGAON, Dec 19 - Hundreds of people under the banner of Morigaon district committee of Congress staged a sit-in dharna at Morigaon Bihutoli today demanding repeal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

A public meeting was held where many veteran Congress workers took part. Addressing the gathering, former minister Bubul Das said the people of Assam must protest and stop the nefarious design of the RSS and BJP, which planned to make India a Hindu Rashtra violating the ethics of the Constitution. He said the BJP government was trying to control the peaceful democratic movement against CAA.

Shyam Das, former chairman of the Morigaon Zila Parishad said people of Assam must fight against the CAA, and vehemently criticised the government and said Akhil Gogoi of KMSS was arrested under the provision of a draconian law to throttle the democratic movement. Former chairman of Morigaon Municipal Board Pranab Jyoti Borkotoki appealed to the people to raise their voices against CAA.
