Cong seeks Togadias arrest for hate speech

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Jan 28 - Reacting sharply to the alleged hate speech, Congress on Thursday demanded filing of FIR against VHP leader Pravin Togadia for his inflammatory speech.

Opposition Cong leader Sudip Roy Barman said whenever elections come there have been instances of encouraging feeling of hatred by a section of leaders to fish in troubled waters which is totally against the countrys secular structure.

BJP and its wings RSS and VHP had created communal tension at Dadri over eating of beef just before Assembly elections in Bihar. It seems they are on the same path at a time when five States are going to Assembly elections shortly, he alleged.

Togadias inflammatory speech at a VHP programme in Rabindra Bhavan here was really condemnable, he said at a press conference at Congress Bhavan here.

In his speech, Togadia had said those Muslims who have come over here after 1951 must be identified or must undergo DNA test and will have to be deported to Bangladesh.

Togadias speech was full of communal hatred and invites legal action. It is mysterious why Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is silent on the dangerous issue. He (Togadia) should be arrested immediately, he demanded.

Lauding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banjerjees act against the VHP leader, the Opposition leader said he (Togadia) must be booked immediately for his communal speech. In West Bengal, the VHP leader was not allowed to address any rally.

The seeds of hatred which was sown here by Togadia will have an adverse impact on the States liberal mindset, he alleged.

In spite of Congresss tough stand on the issue, the VHP leader was touring Kanchanpur, Dharmanagar and Kumarghat to strengthen VHPs influence.

The ruling CPM is mysteriously silent on the hate speech by the VHP leader.
