NEW DELHI, March 8 � Despite opposition from Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, the AICC stuck to its decision and has fielded Manas Bora from the Guwahati LS constituency, even as it has put on hold its decision on the Dhubri, Nagaon and Mangaldai seats. But sources said that the Nagaon seat may go to Jun Joonali Barua. Kirip Chaliha is the frontrunner for the Mangaldai seat.
State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain has already expressed his unwillingness to contest from the Dhubri Lok Sabha seat against AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal.
Sources said that Barua and Hussain were fielded in keeping with the decision of the party to nominate strong
candidates, who can put up a tough fight against rivals.
