Cong misusing govt machinery: BJP

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, March 28 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh today alleged that the ruling Congress government was outrageously using the State machinery to intimidate the Opposition and create all kinds of hurdles in their campaigning.

Talking to media-persons here, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, chairman of the partys poll management panel, accused the government of resorting to unethical practices and said that the Congress should desist from stooping so low. Instead of taking recourse to negative campaigning against the Opposition and particularly the BJP, the Congress should come to issue-based debate, said Bhattacharya alleging that in the capital city, the administration was working openly as agent of the Congress.

The senior BJP leader further said that the State machinery was shamelessly pulling down the election hoardings of the BJP in many places despite the fact that the party has adhered to all the requisite norms for putting up such hoardings. All our hoardings had been put up in keeping with the EC guidelines, but the government machinery is removing our hoardings without any reason, said Bhattacharya, adding that the hoardings of the party were removed in Lanka, Hojai, Guwahati, Karbi Anglong, etc.

Meanwhile, the BJPs anthem campaign for the ensuing Lok Sabha election in CD was released today in the State by Bhattacharya. The anthem, titled Saugandh A Pledge to the Nation, voices the current mood of despondency in the country and the partys prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi expresses his resolve to ensure that India will stand tall and proud, and that the recent setbacks will not be allowed to come in the way of the countrys future.
