ITANAGAR, March 18 Days after the Congress Central leadership marched to the residence of Manmohan Singh to express their solidarity with the former Prime Minister who has been summoned by a special court as an accused in a coal scam case, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has come up with a resolution to fight tooth and nail against any such attempt to tarnish the image of Dr Singh, besides conveying their unstinted support to the ex-PM.
The APCC, in a meeting at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, partys State headquarters on Monday under the chairmanship of its president Padi Richo, accused the Narendra Modi-led BJP Government of indicting the former Prime Minister in the coal scam by misusing the institution of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with a political vendetta.
The APCC was also of the opinion that casting an aspersion on the integrity of former Prime Minister Dr Singh, also a noted economist, is an abrasion to the institution of PMs office.
It is worth-mentioning here that the former Prime Minister, industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, ex-Coal Secretary PC Parakh and three others were on March 11 summoned as accused by a special court in a coal scam case pertaining to allocation of Talabira-II coal block in Odisha in 2005 and asked to appear before it on April 8.
