The Congress leadership organized a Jan Hunkar rally at Dholai constituency in Assam's Cachar district on Thursday to oust the BJP in the ensuing state Assembly polls.

All India Mahila Congress chief and ex-Silchar MP Sushmita Dev raised concerns of dividing people of the state into religious and linguistic lines with illusive and hollow promises of development. She blamed that when Minister of Forest and Environment Parimal Suklabaidya could do nothing to protect people of his own constituency during the recent chaos at the interstate with Mizoram, how can a leader like him assure to protect people of the State.

Congress MP and campaign committee chairman Prastut Bordoloi urged people to unite and strengthen hands of Congress in the fight to dethrone the BJP in the ensuing election.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora said that the sole aim of the party is to work to save Assam by removing the BJP from governance via democratic means for which they are open to all parties having similar aspirations.
