By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 19 In a significant development concerning the ongoing scenario of dissidence in the ruling State Congress, the All India Congress Committee has invited senior Congress legislator Sarat Barkataky to New Delhi for a discussion to bring an end to the present impasse, even as the party high command ignored the dissidents deadline till today for a decision on leadership change in the State Congress.

Barkataky, who is one of the members of the dissident camp, will however, take along two other senior Congress legislators Abdul Muhib Majumdar and Bidya Singh Engleng to meet the AICC leaders. He told this newspaper this evening that he along with Majumdar and Engleng, both members of the dissident camp, will leave for New Delhi on Monday.

Meanwhile, AICC general secretary Bhupen Bora told this newspaper that he had appealed to the members of the dissident camp through Barkataky and Engleng, not to stick to any deadline since the AICC has invited them (Barkataky and Engleng) for a discussion.

A section of the members of the dissident camp had set today as the deadline for the Congress high command to speak out its mind on the issues their camp has raised on the matter of change in the State Legislature Partys leadership. They also told mediapersons that they would announce their next action plan on Monday if the party high command failed to announce its decision on the issue by today.

On the other hand, adding to the ongoing speculations on the issue, Irrigation Minister Dr Ardhendu Dey, who is also a member of the dissident camp, told this newspaper in an uncanny manner, Something may happen on Monday.
