Cong gets absolute majority in KAAC elections

DIPHU, July 31 � The Indian National Congress captured power again in the KAAC town body elections securing absolute majority. The results were declared by the Returning Officer this evening.

Congress candidate of Ward No-1 Nirmala Bora won, defeating her nearest rival, PAPA candidate Rajen Bora. Congress candidates Deuri Lekthe, Ashok Hasnu and Ratan Saha were declared winners in wards 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Sarjeng Engti, also of Congress of ward no-5 won uncontested.

In Diphu town too the ruling Congress captured nine wards, with only ward no-2 going to PAPA candidate Manoj Bey. The winning Congress candidates of Diphu town are Gautom Terang, Rajen Sarma, Rajen Teron, Deniel Engti, Simon Phangso, Meera Tissopi, Pradip Teron, Sukleswar Bey and Mohan Sing Tisso.

Likewise in Bakaliaghat town too Congress won in six wards, while PAPA bagged only ward no-2, the candidate being Lonki Kathar. The winning Congress candidates of Bakaliaghat are Indrajit Acharjee, Gautom Banik, Subhash Das, Nabajyoty Kock, Deepali Rongpipi and Juboraj Bey.

In Dokmoka town Congress won four wards, while PAPA secured two wards.

The Congress also got majority in Hamren town. The winners are Bornson Tisso, Seng Pator, Helen Tissopi and Longwel Phangso. The party also captured four wards in Dongkamukam town, while two wards went to PAPA candidates.
