TURA, April 13 - Former Meghalaya Chief Minister and the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate from Tura seat, Dr Mukul Sangma on Thursday stated that the party was confident of winning both the Tura and Shillong Lok Sabha seats from the State. Both the seats completed voting in the first phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections today.

The former CM added that the seats would be won comfortably in both places. The Congress will fare much better in the other 89 seats in the country which went to poll Thursday in the first phase,� said Mukul.

Further Mukul was confident that the trend would continue in the 2nd phase of polls as well.

The statement was made after the casting of vote by the former CM. He was accompanied at the Chengkompara polling booth under Ampati by his wife and daughter, Dikkanchi D Shira and Miani D Shira, both MLAs from South West Garo Hills.
