Concern over inclusion of non-Deuris in voter�s list

NARAYANPUR, May 25 � The public of Bihpuria have expressed serious concern over the inclusion of non-Deuri voters in the voter�s list of No 17 voting centre of Bongalmora constituency under Deuri Autonomous Council in Bihpuria revenue circle for the ensuing election to the council.

As protest against such alleged illegal and unjustified action of the authority concerned to gain political interest, more than eleven organisations staged a road blockade programme on Bihpuria � Laluk PWD recently.

The agitators submitted memorandums to the Plains Tribal Development Minister of Assam, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Chief Election Commissioner of Assam and the local MLA as well as the Revenue Circle Officer of Bihpuria to delete the names of the non-Deuri voters from the list. The organisations warned of agitational movement if this was not done.

On the other hand, the public of Narayanpur also gheraoed the Narayanpur revenue circle office for inclusion of parts of Panbari, Panbari-Majgaon, Kachikata and Bahonigaon under Narayanpur revenue circle as constituencies of Deuri Autonomous Council.

The public of Narayanpur, including Narayanpur Anchalik Chatra Santha, Asom Jatiatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad and several other non-Deuri organisations demanded of the Chief Election Commissioner of Assam, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur and local MLA Bhupen Bora to exclude these villages from the constituencies of Deuri Autonomous Council, failing which they threatened to take up extreme measures and launch agitational movements against the authority concerned.
