MORIGAON, March 17 - The Morigaon district unit of AASU has expressed serious concern over the encroachment of Government land at Khatorbori Kisam under Morigaon Revenue Circle by some suspected immigrant families.
The Morigaon unit of AASU yesterday convened a public meeting at Bhurbandha and alleged that some permanent buildings in Government land at Khatorbori was threatening the existence of the local indigenous people.
However, when contacted, Rana Bora, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Morigaon told this Correspondent that 13 bighas of Government land was encroached upon. The district administration issued notices and legal action has already been initiated against the illegal dwellers at Khatorbori and Bhurbandha,the ADC added.
