GUWAHATI, Feb 9 � Noted critic Dr Pona Mahanta released the Narowa Atasakalar Nirbachita Naat, a compilation of some of the rare Assamese plays written by the Vaishanava saints of Balisatra, Nagaon at a function held at the State Archive here on February 7.
The book has been edited by renowned Sankaradeva scholar Prof Keshavananda Dev Goswami and published by the Balisatra Management Committee with financial support from the National Archive of India.
The function was presided over by Ganesh Kalita, Commissioner and Secretary of the Secretariat Administration Department. Noted Sattriya exponent Dr Jagannath Mahanta was the appointed speaker. It was also addressed by Director of State Archive Dr Dharmeswar Sonowal, writer Dr Surya Das and poet Biren Bargohain, among others, said a press release.
