GUWAHATI, June 25 - Hridayat Shabdar Dhou, a collection of songs and poems composed by freedom fighter, laureate and educationist the late Nagendra Nath Sarma and his wife Basanti Devi, was released by Padmashree and Sahitya Akademi award recipient Eli Ahmed at a function held in the conference hall of the Guwahati Planetarium here yesterday, said a press release today.

In her speech Ahmed applauded Basanti Devi for her contribution to the world of literature through her writings even at the age of 92 years.

The programme started with chanting of a sloka from the Geeta by Bani Devi. It was followed by tributes to Nagendra Nath Sarma. The programme was attended by former judge of the Gauhati High Court Meera Sharma, noted film producer Dara Ahmed and ex-MP Dr Arun Kumar Sarma. The compilation is edited by social activist Surjya Kr Bordoloi.
