MAJULI, June 2 - The collection of primary data on Majuli, as part of the govt�s initiative to develop the island as India�s first carbon neutral district by 2020, has already been completed.

Jadumoni Bhuyan, a project leader of this Carbon Neutral District Project, told this correspondent that through this project the Assam government in collaboration with Majuli district administration will make Majuli pollution-free and suitable for all living beings by reducing the amount of carbon and other poisonous gases from the atmosphere.

In this context, at the initiative of Majuli Deputy Commissioner Pallab Gopal Jha and under the leadership of New Delhi-based environment related company AAYARA�s project manager TN Chethan and Jadumoni Bhuyan, a team of eight members did a survey and collected environment-related datas by covering almost 64 villages and 32 major and minor Satras of 20 gaon panchayats of this island district,

On the basis of these data, future plans will be made to reduce carbon from Majuli�s atmosphere. It will also help to make plans about the required energy projects which will increase the energy services in this district.
