Cold weather condition in city

GUWAHATI, Dec 22 � Finally the winter fog brought the much awaited cold weather condition to the city. The city today recorded a minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius and a maximum temperature of 19.2 degree Celsius against the respective normals of 9 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius.

According to H Pathak, Deputy Director General of Meteorology (DDGM) of the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) here the city recorded a maximum temperature of 25 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 9.8 degree Celsius on December 20. It recorded a maximum temperature of 22.2 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 9.7 degree Celsius on December 21 against the same normals.

The day temperature in the city is dropping due to the longer fog cover. The present foggy condition is likely to continue for the next one or two days, said Pathak.

The weather system for the past three to four days was a normal winter weather one. The morning fog is the regular phenomenon of the winter weather condition in NE region. This is due to the fall in the night temperature, he said.

The South Pole ward shift of the Sun is associated with the present weather condition, he said.
