GUWAHATI, May 22 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today laid stress on solving the problems of flood and erosion. According to an official press release, the Chief Minister reiterated his Governments emphasis on reclamation of the land lost to river bank erosion. For the purpose, the Government has gone for a pilot project at Sualkuchi.

The Chief Minister also informed the gathering of the function that national and international experts are sought to be engaged in the bid to control flood and check erosion through new technology. The Government is also keen on taking help of the countries like Bangladesh and Germany in this respect.

Addressing the function, organised jointly by the River Study Centre Flood and River Erosion Management Agency of Assam and the Water Resources Department of the State, Water Resources Minister Rajib Lochan Pegu said that the Government has taken up a pilot project for implementing the low-cost zack-zeety technology to check river bank erosion at Sualkuchi. The project is aimed at reclamation of the land lost to bank erosion.
