CM�s stress on better scope for cultural, sports activities

GUWAHATI, Jan 20 - Advocating a multi-dimensional role for teachers in nurturing the talents of students, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today laid stress on the need for unfolding better opportunities for cultural and sports activities at educational institutions of the State.

The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating the newly constructed Bipin Chandra Baruah Library at Paschim Guwahati College in the city today. He also laid the foundation stone for construction of an auditorium in the college.

�Our teachers must put in their energies to build a strong ethical foundation for the students so that they can distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. All civilisations have stormed through many challenges and our legendary personalities teach us how to overcome challenges to lead a successful life. Our youth must stand the test of time and exhibit their best in prevailing over all odds,� he said, adding that parents, teachers and conscientious citizens must put in unified efforts for ensuring best education for students from grassroots level.

Stating that the State government has accorded top priority to imparting quality education to students, Sonowal said initiatives like Gunotsav had been launched keeping that in mind. He also urged the students to work hard with discipline, honesty and integrity to succeed in life.
